A major update has finally started rolling out for Redmi Note 13 5G users. This update was recently released in European countries specifically for this device. While it brings a host of changes, it also comes with a notable drawback. So, let’s find out when all users can expect to receive it and what new features the update introduces.
Redmi Note 13 5G HyperOS 3 Update
Xiaomi has recently started rolling out HyperOS 3 for the European variant of the Redmi Note 13 5G. The version number for this update is 3.0.2.0.VNQEUXM, and it comes with a file size of approximately 2GB. However, unfortunately, this update is based on Android 15. Unlike the other devices are receiving Android 16 alongside HyperOS 3, that is not the case here.
That’s also why the update size is smaller. This also means users will not receive the security and privacy enhancements associated with Android 16. Also this device was originally launched running Android 13, with a promise of receiving two major OS updates. Xiaomi promised two major Android updates for this phone, and with Android 15, that promise is now complete. This implies that this is likely the final major OS and UI update for the device; going forward, it will only receive Android security patch updates.
Update Features

After installing the update, the most significant highlight is found in the “HyperIsland” features. These features now support a wider range of applications and offer more extensive customization options than before. While AI-driven features are present, they are not implemented at an advanced level. Connectivity performance has improved compared to previous versions. Users will also find more extensive lock screen customization options than were previously available.
Additionally, some new options have been added to the wallpaper section. After updating, animations feel noticeably smoother, especially when switching between apps. Multitasking also feels quicker, and apps stay in memory longer than before. The downside is clear – no Android 16. For many users, that’s going to be disappointing.
Should You Install It or Not?
This update was recently released as a partial rollout, meaning it will initially reach a select group of random users. Within just a few days, however, the update is expected to become available on the majority of devices. Since this is a major update, it is highly recommended that you create a full backup of your device before proceeding with the installation.
While such updates generally prove beneficial for a device, given that this constitutes the latest update, you should ensure you are fully informed about it before updating. If you have already installed the update, please be sure to share your experience in the comments section.
