Finally! Nothing OS 4.1 update rollout has started for Nothing Phone 3a users. This is great news for those who have Phone (3a) or (3a) Pro and have been waiting for it. The update is basically based on Android 16, and comes with some great AI features, a new look for the lock screen, and security improvements.
What’s New: The Highlight Features
The biggest attraction in this update is Essential Voice. It is a new AI-powered speech-to-text tool, which makes your voice notes much clearer. It filters out interruptions, filler words (like um, uh), repetitions, and also does self-correction. Not only that – it also does on-the-fly translation, detecting the language you are speaking and texting it in another language.
There is an option to store personal phrases, such as email addresses or regular phrases – which are automatically inserted as you speak. And it formats speech into automatic lists, steps, or bullet points. You can start by tapping the keyboard icon or long-pressing the Essential Key. Honestly, it works four times faster than typing.
Another cool feature is the new lock screen clock face for Phone (3a) Community Edition. This clock, created in collaboration with community member Jad Zock, comes with a unique typeface and wake-up effect. It is now available on other devices, starting with Phone (3a).
Live Updates have become smarter. Now you can see real-time updates everywhere – on the lock screen, notification panel, and Glyph Interface. You can see traffic or route progress on Google Maps at a glance. The UI of Essential Notifications has also been cleaned up, new descriptions have been added, and frequently used notifications are automatically suggested in Essential Notifications.

Other improvements include:
- Optimized eSIM activation prompt
- Improved video call stability in third-party apps
- Fixed some display bugs in the notification panel and quick settings
- Improved overall system stability
Not only that, it also comes with the April 2026 security patch. The update size is around 223-295 MB.
Which Other Nothing Phones Are Getting Nothing OS 4.1?
Nothing has officially announced that the update is rolling out in a staggered manner:
- Getting it now: Nothing Phone (3)
- Late April (this month): Nothing Phone (3a) series, Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (2a) series, Phone (2), CMF Phone 1 and CMF Phone 2 Pro
- Early May: Nothing Phone (3a) Lite
Nothing has confirmed that the advanced features of the Phone (4a) series and Phone (3) are not coming to Phone (3a) or older devices right now. They will be available to everyone in a phased manner in the next update based on feedback.
When You Get & Should Install?
Go to Settings > System Update to check. If it hasn’t arrived, check back in a few hours – the rollout is happening in phases.
Nothing OS 4.1 makes the Phone 3a smarter and more user-friendly. Essential Voice and the new clock face will make your daily use more fun. If you are using Phone 3a, then try it once the update is available and let us know how it goes in the comments.
However, remember to take a full backup of your device before doing such an update. The phone may heat up a bit during the update and the battery may drain more, but everything will return to normal when it is finished. Keep the update on Wi-Fi and charge it, do not turn it off halfway. If you see any issues after the update, share them on Nothing’s community forum.
